Merlin's Dream (yay, he told me about one)

Solstice, so happy Summer Solstice to those up North, and Happy Winter Solstice to those down in the South (and Happy Sun Starts Toward Getting Warm Again Ever So Slowly).

And with that out of the way, Merlin told me a little about how he dreams today, which is neat because he rarely discusses his, though he hears Athena and I mention ones we're puzzling on or when we notice themes.  So today while I was getting my morning cup of coffee, he came up to me, pointed to his head with his wide brown eyes, looking happy and obviously having what he considered a good dream.

Merlin: Mom, I have good dream last night, I dream in numbers.
Me: Oh, that's neat.  I'm glad you had a good dream, because I don't dream in numbers.  Can you tell me more?
Merlin: I like numbers!  I dreamed them.

He then proceeded to attempt to show me with his mind what he dreamt (and mommy was too thick to pick up on the images or whatever, though admittedly perhaps those could also have been too foreign to my math-not-loving-thankyou mind.  I could feel the slight pressure as he tried though, and he was flashing his fingers at me in that was obviously some sort of sequence.

It was cute, and obviously the dream made him really happy by how wide those eyes were and how wide the smile (looked like he'd had his favorite treat... that sort of smile).  I'm glad that he likes Math, that was my big bone of contention in school, so I'm hoping that he doesn't end up with the frustrations with it I did (I do miss playing with logarithms though, I don't even remember how now, and those had been my favorite).  Also it was interesting that Merlin was being so social and communicative.  He's really made a lot of progress since he got his autism diagnosis and was eligible for the focused schooling.

Aphorisms of Kerishdar now available on audiobook, and Dragon Shaman musings

So, checking my friends list for the news of the day on LJ, I found the very happy news that (haikujaguar) M.C.A. Hogarth's "Aphorisms of Kerishdar" is now out on audio book! See her announcement post.  Good stuff this.

I've read through "Aphorisms" and "Admonishments" and am reading along with her as she serializes "Black Blossom" after having gleefully started following her when she was working on "A Rosary of Stones and Thorns."  All of her works that I have read have been excellent, so later I am looking forward to getting this audiobook (better not do it right now though, budgeting after all).

I am still considering eventually making the Dragon Shaman series available on audio book.  I actually do get several requests for it, so it might be worth doing.  Still not sure if I should read it myself though, or check on how much it would be to have someone else read and record (Volunteers? Taming the Blowing Wind I can't post announcements about on FanFiction where people first started getting interesting in 'Wind and Ryu since their series is definitely not in that category).

Still waiting on Victoria Davis for a new cover for the extended edition of the first book (she works and has other projects too, so that's not a complaint... just looking forward to what she comes up with because dang I love her work).

And, I really should send a random thank you to my parents for introducing me to reading.  Without them, I would most likely not have developed a taste for science fiction Oooooo... Issac Asimov...  Good Lord how I remember reading books by him and then discussing with my parents what I'd read...  Staying up late nights, early into the morning during my long ago summers to gorge myself on alien worlds, space travel, distant civilizations, and each main character's quest to overcome what they thought was the goal, only to have to come face to face with- and accept- themselves for who and what they truly were.

Anyway, enough tangent.  Her stuff, in my opinion, is as good as an Asimov book.

Beware, the Grump hath struck.. Laptop Adventures

So during today's meditation facilitation on SL, the laptop crashed.  It did this no matter which viewer I used, shocking me pretty well each time.  Have had issues with overheating lately (it's hot, I expect it, summer is not good for laptops here) so my first guess is that the fan either died, or is stuck.

Laptop is out of warranty, and a clogged fan is something I can deal with.  I reviewed the repair manual to see the proper method to get in for that, and when Athena left for her therapy session I went to pick up more air to blow the dust and crap out in further preparation.  I came home.  I managed to successfully open up several bays that needed the cleaning, which all need opening first before I get to the fan according to the manual...

But not all...  Why?

Frozen screws.

Grr...  Tomorrow I shall take the lappy with me and head over to Weed to have a chat with the computer techs over there, that have dealt on various computers of mine before, and get a quote, as Best Buy is rather far away and takes a while usually.

Putting it back together, it does turn on.  I've yet to try it again with SL, but for now that will wait.

Le big sigh.

I did pick up an external cooling system while getting more canned air (after many year, this concept still gives me giggle fits) so that will at least help some.  The irritation remains though.

Current Active Serial Story: Selkies' Skins (read on LJ, read on DW, or read at site)
Selkies' Skins manuscript wordcount:
Selkies' Skins: Castle and Well (book one): 131,693 for chapters 1 through 39, front matter, the glossary, and author bio. It is followed by a second book covering the second half of Kirsty's testing, and likely a third book or fourth book to deal with other important bits of the selkies' (yes, more than one) stories that are not focused on in Kirsty's Skinquesting. There is also an audiobook version recorded, narrated by Illya Leonov. He is also expected to narrate the books of the Dragon Shaman series. https://www.amazon.com/Castle-Well-Selkies-Skins-Book/dp/B00O9GKYW0/

Selkies' Skins: Temple and Skinquest (book two): 41,338 and growing in the manuscript as of April 20, 2016 and is in progress. I need to look over the current manuscript for the current wordcount before editing.

Flowing always just behind the scenes,
And only glimpsed when sought.

I have forgotten when this was written, though it would have been either the 1990's or the early 2000's.
Copyrighted to me. Do not use without my written permission. It is irritating enough to have seen one of my shorts get commandeered by someone else. I have moved it here as updating the theme wiped my footers.
